Bebe Movil #2 : Octaedro

 

Do you remember our black and white butterfly mobile..baby Marce loves it! Now we have moved forward to baby mobile # 2 which its :The Octahedron Mobile that is the second in the Visual Mobile Montessori Series.
It is very easy to make one of this and you don't need lots of material, here is a great tutorial for it. We didn't have a dowel around the house so Big sister C ran to the backyard to find a nice stick for baby brother's mobile..I loved that!


¿Recuerdas nuestro móvil de mariposas blanco y negro bueno a  Marce le encanto! Ahora hemos pasado al bebé móvil # 2,  el  Octaedro es el segundo de la serie Visual de moviles Montessori.
Es muy fácil de hacer y no necesitas mucho material simplemente papel de colores primarios si puedes el papel brillante ese que se usa para las bolsas de regalo y un palito.Aqui esta el tutorial. La hermana mayor C encontro un palito en el jardin para el movil de su hermanito..pero si es una reina!!Me encantó.

Couple of days ago Marce started to discover the wonderful power of reaching, it is such a milestone! He is being practicing over and over since then.

Un par de días atrás Marce empezó a descubrir el maravilloso poder de alcanzar, que es un hito! Desde ese dia nadie lo para!! practica  una y otra vez.

Reasons why I choose cloth..

 

 

When someone will mention the words "cloth diapers" the first thing that came to my head  was gross   and the first picture that came up to my head was these big boring squares of fabric that my mom used to use with us along with the huge pins! My friends,  let me tell you that I WAS SO WRONG!!!
This time with baby number two (2 months old) we decided to go 100% cloth diapering, after lots of research and commitment I can say it is way easier, cheaper and more fun than I thought.

-Well my biggest reason is cloth is softer and gentle on baby's skin...do you imagine yourself wearing those uncomfortable,itchy disposable diapers all day long?? I wouldn't like it !
-I don't have to rush to the store every time I run out of disposable diapers....way easier to throw them in the washer and problem solved!
- We have spent over $350. in cloth diapers that they will last us until Marce is potty trained...yes! if you make your math it is saving us lot's money.



Porque elegi panales de tela?

Cuando alguien mencionaba las palabras "pañales de tela" lo primero que se venia a mi mente era: no gracias!
Y bueno tambien esta de mas recordar los panales que mi mama compraba para nosotros, eran un monton de trabajo lavarlos y doblarlos! Pero hoy en dia los panales de tela han dado un vuelco cientifico mis amigas, son super faciles de poner y de lavar!!
Esta vez con el bebé número dos (2 meses de edad), hemos decidido utilizar pañales de tela, después de indagar y aprender acerca de estos, podemos decir que es la forma más fácil, barata y de alguna manera divertida (ya que hay disenos muy monos y coloridos)para nosotros.

-Bueno, mi principal razón, tela es más suave en la piel del bebé ... ¿te imaginas a ti mismo usando esos pañales desechables durante todo el día? A mi me pareceria super incomodo, sin mencionar las escaldaduras eh

-No tengo que correr a la tienda a comprar mas panales desechables cada 15 dias .... para mi más fácil es tirarlos en la lavadora y problema resuelto!
- Hemos gastado alrededor de $ 350. en pañales de tela que nos van a durar hasta que Marce aprenda a controlar los esfinteres ... si usted hace su matemáticas nos estámos ahorrando dinero.

One of our favorite activities to do at home is story time, what child doesn't like to hear stories or create his own story, right? So today I am going to do a review of Learning with Fun Felt from Betty Lukens.
Few months ago C had the chance to received on the mail three different felt story boards from her choice, (it was such a hard job for her to pick three of them because all of them are so cute)as soon as she opened the box, she started to play with them and couldn't wait anymore! She looked so excited and of course I did too : )
We got the rain forest adventures, friends animal care and the fun on the farm story boards.We really like them! The colors are so real and bright and each set comes with over 20 pieces.


Uno de nuestros pasatiempos favoritos en casa es jugar con los figurines de fieltro, creando fabulas, cambiarles de traje o simplemente jugar con ellos. Hoy dia les voy a contar mi experiencia con los figurines de Betty Lukens.
Hace unos meses atras C tuvo la oportunidad de elegir tres tableros de fabulas de esta compania, bueno la verdad es que se le fue dificil de elegir solo tres ya que todos parecen muy entretenidos, pero al final lo hizo, eligio los animales de la selva, la granja y el cuidado de los animales.
El dia que nos llegaron los tableros C estuvo super emocionada y claro yo tambien eh..que ustedes ya saben como me gusta el el material didactico hecho de fieltro.
Bueno desde que abrimos la bolsa nos encanto, los colores de cada set son muy alegres, estan muy bien hechos, cada set viene con alrededor de 20 piezas!

                                 

We use them every week for our story telling or just to play with the figurines.I also like the fact that these story boards come in a carrying plastic case which makes it easy to storage the pieces all together and taking them everywhere even to the backyard and share with our friends.


Usamos nuestros tableros cada semana en la hora de la fabula, a C le encanta cambiarles de personaje y de vestuario..pero a que nino no. verdad? Tambien me agrada el detalle que cada set viene en una maletin de plastico de esta manera se me hace muy facil manterner las piezas juntas y tambien llevarlas a los lugares que se nos antoje..claro que a nuestro jardin he hecho que si!
Y que mejor de compartir las fabulas con nuestros amigos verdad..que divertido!

I also can use a board as part of our activities in our shelves.

Tambien incluyo una tableta con los figurines  como una de las actividades de nuestros estantes.

Butterfly Mask

Mascara de Mariposa

Since we have a new baby at home we are changing our routine a little bit, C still has activities to work on her classroom at home, these are 100% self-independent. One of these activities was to create a mask, this week she made a butterfly mask.

(These kind of activities give me some time to change diapers, check on the laundry or just breastfeed baby)

 

Bueno aun estamos ajustando la nueva rutina de tener un nuevo bebe en casa, asi que eh preparado actividades en los estantes totalmente auto-independientes para C. Una de estas actividades es crear tus propios proyectos de arte, esta vez fue una mascara de mariposa.

(Este tipo de actividades me dan tiempo libre para cambiar el panal del hermanito,checkear la lavanderia o simplemente darle el pecho)

I put in the tray : small pieces of felt,feathers,glitter,buttons,flower felt stickers and she also use dot and dot paint, markers , pipe cleaners and purple foam that she cut from a butterfly pattern.


Puse en la bandeja : pequenos pedacitos de fieltro,plumas de colores,escarche o brillantina,botones, pegatinas de flores, limpia pipas, marcadores y goma eva.

Then she used her imagination and put this mask together.

C uso su imaginacion y creo su mascara.

 Then we played and flew around the house.
I wonder what will she create next week?

Luego jugamos y pretendimos ser mariposas volando alrededor de la casa.
La proxima sema..que creara?

One of his favorite things to look at its this baby white and black blanket I made before he was born.

Uno de sus pasatiempoes es contemplar esta manta que hize antes de que naciera este bello bebe.

I used polar fleece fabric with some left overs fabric I used to make the baby mobile. I followed this tutorial.

Use tela de material polar y tambien tela que me sobro del movil para bebe que hize algun tiempo atras. Segui este tutorial.

Easy Beaded Fairy Crown

Corona de Hadas con Cuentas y Cintas

This is a very simple crown to make, you will need: wire, beads and ribbons.

Esta es una corona muy facil de hacer, necesitaras : alambre, cuentas y cintas de diversos colores.

 

Let your little fairy insert the beads on the wire (do you remember the flower crown? from two years ago..yes! She still plays with it : )

Tu hadita en casa puede insertar las cuentas en el alambre (recuerdan esta corona de flores de hace dos anios? sii...aun jugamos con esta : )

And tie the ribbons to the wire (C needed help with this part)

 

y puede amarrar las cintas en el alambre (C necesito mi ayuda en esta parte)

To close both ends of the crown I used self-adhesive satin ribbon (I bought this set over a year ago and love it..pretty handy).

Para cerrar los extremos de la corona use  cinta adhesiva morada  (compre este set de cintas hace mas de un anio..y las uso casi para todo proyecto, son muy convenientes)

Now that you are done, let your little fairy dream, imagine and play with her new crown!!

Magic Things Jar

I was thinking on some ideas to keep C (4 years old) busy while I am  making dinner or just helping baby M , after seen this post I knew I needed to give it a try. This is very easy to put together. You just need an empty container (plastic, glass or even a bag) and type or hand write some activities you will like your child to do on her own.

 

Estuve pensando en algunas ideas para mantener C (4 anios)  ocupada mientras yo  preparo la cena o estoy ayudando al bebé  M, después de ver esta publicacion , pense que seria una idea y decidi prepararla. Es muy fácil de armar,sólo se necesita un recipiente vacío (plástico, vidrio o incluso una bolsa) imprimir  o escribir a mano algunas actividades que le gustan a su niño  hacer por su cuenta.

 

I made my own list of fun things that C can do all by herself to create imagination and independence. I used purple ink for Spanish and pink ink for English. If you will like to download my list of activities go here.

 

Hize una lista de cosas que tenemos en casa y estan al alcanze de C, actividades que construyan imaginacion e independencia y no necesite de mi monitoreo. Use los codigos morado para Espanol y rosado para Ingles. Si usted desea descargar mi lista de actividades puede ir aqui.

So far C likes to get a paper from our " magic jar" and enjoys making the activities from the jar, she spent like 2 hours last night playing with it.
I think it will be a good idea if I change the activities every month or so, just to create more fun and expectations.

A mi C le encanta entretenerse con nuestro "tarrito magico" y disfruta sacando ideas de este. Anoche paso cerca de 2 horas jugando y creando con el tarrito.
Pienso cambiar las actividades del tarrito cada mes, esto servira para crear mas diversion y aumentar expectativas : )

Welcome home BABY!!

Bienvenido a Casa mi Bebe!!

After 9 months, baby M is finally here.His birth weight was 9 pounds and we are looking to keep breastfeeding as long as he wants : ) Everything went well, we stayed at the hospital for couple of days and finally came home.
We are so blessed to have you!


Despues de esperarlo 9 meses con grandes ansias e ilusiones nuestro bebe M llego a este mundo, pesando 4 kilos y con muy buena salud, inmediatamente empeze a darle de lactar y todo va de maravilla : )
Estuvimos en el hospital por dos dias y finalmente ya estamos en casa.
Hemos sido bendecidos al tenerte mi corazon!

Henna Belly

A talented friend of mine offered to do some henna on my belly days ago, She always likes to share her wonderful designs on me ; ) But this time I was very impressed, isn't it lovely?

Henna is is a flowering plant used since antiquity to dye skin, hair, fingernails, leather and wool. The name is also used for dye preparations derived from the plant, and for the art of temporary tattooing based on those dyes.It usually stays in your skin for about 5-7 days.

Una amiga mia,muy talentosa  se ofreció a hacer un diseno con henna en mi pansita,a  ella siempre le gusta compartir sus diseños maravillosos conmigo ;) Pero esta vez me ha impresionado mucho, ¿no es precioso este diseno?

 La henna es una planta de flores q se utiliza  desde la antigüedad para teñir la piel, pelo, uñas, cuero y lana. También se utiliza para la preparación de colorantes derivados de la planta, y para el arte del tatuaje temporal con base en los colorantes.Por lo general se queda en su piel durante unos 5-7 días.

And of course little C (4.5 years old) wanted to give it a try, she choosed to have a flower..so sweet.

Y porsupuesto mi pequena C (4 anios y medio) tambien quiso uno, eligio una flor en su pie..linda ella.

Walk for the Cure!

Couple of weeks ago daddy, C and me walked 1 mile for Alaska Run for Women, this race has become a tradition on our family.
I usually run the 5 miles race but this year being 9 months pregnant we participated on the 1 mile walk.

Hace un par de semanas participamos en la carrera Alaska Run for Women, este evento es muy grande en nuestra ciudad y se ah convertido en una tradicion en nuestra familia.
Cada anio participo en la carrera de 5 millas pero este anio fue la excepcion ya que estoy 9 meses embarazada, pero pudimos participar en la caminata de 1 milla.

This is a very simple and fun  activity where all the family can participate, I bought some crayola fabric markers at Target for $4. and gave them a try. They are very easy to use,  after drawing you can iron the shirts or put them in the dryer for few minutes. That's all!!
I am just trying to give C the chance to be 100% involve on baby's arrival.


Esta es una activdad muy facil y super creativa donde toda la familia puede participar sin ningun problema! Compre marcadores para tela en la tienda Target por el valor de $4.
Despues de dibujar en las camisetas las puedes poner a la secadora o plancharlas por encima de tu diseno y nada mas! Estan listas.

Daddy, C and me decorated some onesises for baby (one week left : ) before he borns..so exciting!

Me encanto como C dibujo este camino de arco iris hacia nuestra casa para cuando su hermano llegue.Ni yo lo hubiera pensado mejor!!
