This is a nice colorful activity easy to do with the kiddos at home. You will need :

-ice trays

-fabric dye (as many colors you want)

-white clothes to dye on

-and creative kids 

Esta es una buena actividad  fácil de hacer con los peques en casa. Usted necesitará:

-bandejas de hielo

-tinte de tela (como muchos colores que desee)

-ropa blanca para teñir 

y niños creativos

I bought this tie dye kit couple of years ago at Walmart for $14. We have used it for different projects and it lasted for quiet of bit.But you can use any dye you have at home. You also can go here to buy different dyes for fabric.

Compré este set de tinte hace un par de años atrás en Walmart por $14. Lo hemos utilizado para diferentes proyectos y ah durado buen tiempo .Pero puede usar cualquier colorante que tenga en casa. También puedes visitar este sitio para comprar diferentes tintes para telas.

First you fill your ice trays with water and pour a teaspoon of your dye, mix it and freeze it.

En primer lugar llena tus bandejas de hielo con agua y vierta una cucharadita de el tinte, se mezcla y congelelo.

Get ready your whites to start the project

Prepare la ropa blanca  para iniciar el proyecto

Once the ice is ready give it to your child and let her/him have some fun with the colorful ice cubes

Una vez que el hielo este listo deje que su nene se divierta creando con los hielos de colores

I suggest to let the ice cubes sit for a couple of minutes on the fabric before putting them back in the tray

Sugiero que los cubitos de hielo reposen durante un par de minutos en la tela antes de volver a colocarlos en la bandeja

Ice cubes here and ice cubes there and the t shirts will turn so colorful and fun...Let them dry completely then washed them with warm water ,they will be ready to wear them 

Algunos cubos de hielo aquí y otros cubos de hielo allí y las camisetas se volverá tan coloridas ... Deje que se sequen completamente, luego lavar con agua tibia y estarán listas para usarlas.

Playdough Fun Box

This playdough box is very easy to put together and the best part of it, you can take it anywhere with you around the house or to a friend's house to play and share.

Esta caja con plastilina es muy facil de armar, lo mejor de todo es que la puedes llevar a donde quieras y hasta la casa de la amiguita para que los nenes compartan y se la pasen bien jugando.


                                       

This is not my original idea, I was inspired by this post and I knew right away that I had to give it a try.
We made some green, yellow and red homemade playdough , put some beads, cookie cutters and bought this box container at Target for $3.

Esta no fue una idea mia, vi esta entrada en este  blog y supe que tenia que interntarlo, porque es una manera muy facil de mantener la plastilina fresca y al alcanze de C.
Hicimos plastilina verde,amarilla y roja usando esta receta casera ,pusimos cuentas de diferentes colores y formas,cortadores de galletas y compre esta caja en Target por $3.

About a week ago as part of our Halloween theme we made some pumpkin cake pops, this is one of the projects I am not committed to do all the time, I try to avoid them for a very two simple reasons "big mess" and the "long process" but a month or so I can deal with it : )
We followed this tutorial very simple and helpful


Hace una semana como parte de nuestra unidad del mes "halloween" hicimos unos chupetines de bizcocho en forma de calabazas, bueno este es uno de esos projectos que no me comprometo a prepararlos muy seguido, ya que es un proceso algo largo y se ensucian muchos utensilios, pero como C se la pasa muy bien ayudando a mama entonces me motiva a engreirla y preparar estos postres : )
Seguimos este  tutorial  muy simple y practico

Halloween I Spy Bag

Yo Espio Bolsa de Halloween

This time I didn't put together a sensory bin you can go here and here to see our last year's halloween box.
This time I decided to do something different, and after seeing different i spy bags around the bloggy world I thought on giving it a try.
I made this I spy bag in a very simple way, a while ago i bought some curtains for C's bedroom and kept the baggies that came with. So it was a good project to use one of the bags, put some black beans with little objects related with our halloween theme on this year I also glued a piece of black felt on the back side of this i spy bag just to make it a little bit more challenging.


Este mes no prepare una caja sensorial, vaya aqui y aqui para ver nuestra caja sensorial del anio pasado.
Esta vez decidí hacer algo distinto después de ver diferentes bolsas de yo espio en por el mundo blogero pense que seria una idea genial.
Muy simple, hace un tiempo compré unas cortinas para el dormitorio de C y guarde las bolsas en que vinieros . Así que fue el proyecto adecuado para utilizar una de las bolsas, puse un poco de frijoles negros con pequeños objetos relacionados con nuestro tema de Halloween.

Before putting the objects inside the bag I took pictures of each one, then downloaded in the computer, print, laminate and cut them. (This was a little bit of work).

Antes de poner todos los objetos dentro de la bolsa, tome una foto de cada uno, luego las pase al ordenador , las imprimi y lamine. (Esta fue la parte que me tomo tiempo).

So far C likes it! She likes taking one card (picture)at the time and look for the object in our I spy bag, and keeps doing that until she decides to be done.

C disfruta de la actividad!Ella escoge una tarjeta (foto) y busca el objeto de la tarjeta en la bolsa yo espio , una vez que encuentra el objeto escoge otra tarjeta y continua el juego hasta que ella decida para.

Matching her imagination..

Yesterday while I was making dinner, C was busy working on something I didn't mind asking her what she was up to, after a while (20 minutes or so) I finally asked her about it and she said "mommy I am busy matching the beautiful flowers I got from your flower vase with crayons"(I never thought about that..I think it is a great idea)..don't you love when kids make up their own games, activities and work using their great imagination. I do!


Hace unos dias cuando estaba preparando la cena, note que C estaba muy entretenida en algo, iba de aqui para alla, pero la vi muy enfocada que no me atrevi a pregutarle en que andaba, para no quitarle la inspiracion, asi que al mucho rato (20 minutos o mas) me atrevi a preguntarle lo que estaba hacienod y me dijo " mami estoy emparejando los colores de las flores que saque de tu florero con los colores de los crayones"..linda respuesta, pues que me encanta que los ninos usen y saquen a lucir su bella imaginacion en sus actividades diarias...pues es que para eso son ninos.(ni a mi se me hubiera ocurrido una idea tan genial).

I was thinking on some ideas to keep C (4 years old) busy while I am  making dinner or just helping baby M , after seen this post I knew I needed to give it a try. This is very easy to put together. You just need an empty container (plastic, glass or even a bag) and type or hand write some activities you will like your child to do on her own.

 

Estuve pensando en algunas ideas para mantener C (4 anios)  ocupada mientras yo  preparo la cena o estoy ayudando al bebé  M, después de ver esta publicacion , pense que seria una idea y decidi prepararla. Es muy fácil de armar,sólo se necesita un recipiente vacío (plástico, vidrio o incluso una bolsa) imprimir  o escribir a mano algunas actividades que le gustan a su niño  hacer por su cuenta.

 

I made my own list of fun things that C can do all by herself to create imagination and independence. I used purple ink for Spanish and pink ink for English. If you will like to download my list of activities go here.

 

Hize una lista de cosas que tenemos en casa y estan al alcanze de C, actividades que construyan imaginacion e independencia y no necesite de mi monitoreo. Use los codigos morado para Espanol y rosado para Ingles. Si usted desea descargar mi lista de actividades puede ir aqui.

So far C likes to get a paper from our " magic jar" and enjoys making the activities from the jar, she spent like 2 hours last night playing with it.
I think it will be a good idea if I change the activities every month or so, just to create more fun and expectations.

A mi C le encanta entretenerse con nuestro "tarrito magico" y disfruta sacando ideas de este. Anoche paso cerca de 2 horas jugando y creando con el tarrito.
Pienso cambiar las actividades del tarrito cada mes, esto servira para crear mas diversion y aumentar expectativas : )

Apple Button Activity

Actividad de Manzanas con Botones

Well this month theme is the Life Cycle of the Apple. I thought it will be a fun idea to make this apple felt activity to practice buttoning.( I have to admit C is not very interested in learning how to button or use the zipper..which its fine!). This felt board was so easy to make, no patterns necessary and I use some felt and ribbon I have at home. Just make a tree, some flowers,a butterfly, a bird, a sun, some grass and stitch some red buttons on the tree..and ready to go! (by the way, this time I use hot glue..not my sewing machine : )  

 

Este mes, estamos estudiando el ciclo de las manzanas, pense en hacer una actividad con arboles y manzanas para poder practicar el ejercicio de botones (ya que C no esta muy interesada en botones o practicar con las cremalleras o cierres, lo cual respeto). Hize este tapete usando fieltro y goma caliente, fue muy rapido y facil de hacer, simplemente empiezas por el arbol, luego el sol, el pasto, las mariposas,flores y cose unos botones rojos en el arbol y luego para el detalle final cinta alrededor del tapete..listo! (no necesidad de usar maquina de coser : )

I also made these felt apples using hot glue. Put them inside a basket and ask your little girl or boy to hang them up on the tree.

Tambien hize estas manzanas de fieltro usando goma caliente. Luego las pones dentro de una canasta y listas para colgarlas en el arbol.

It was a big hit!

Once the apples are hanging on the tree we can sing:

I'm a little apple tree
apple tree apple tree
i'm a little apple tree and i'm as tall as i can be
i can not sneeze

for all my apples will fall off
ahhhhh choooooo.

Homemade Finger Paint

Pintura para Dedos Hecha en Casa

This project has been for several months on my list. Finally we did it!!
I found some recipes online but I have to say, I decided to create my own, it turned out great.
Here is the recipe:
- 3 tbs. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 cups of water
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp. olive oil
Mix all the ingredients on a pan, cook the for 10 minutes and pour into the glass(baby jar) containers and add few drops  of food coloring. SUPER easy : )
We use some of the paint but we still have some left over, I decided to keep them in the refrigerator just in case.


Este proyecto ha estado durante varios meses en mi lista. Finalmente lo hicimos! He encontrado algunas recetas en línea, pero tengo que decir que decidi  crear mi propia receta, que resultó ser genial.
Aquí está :
- 3 cucharadas de  azúcar
- 1 cdta. sal
- 2 tazas de agua
- 1 / 2 taza de harina
- 1 / 2 cdta. de aceite de oliva
Mezclar todos los ingredientes en una cacerola, cocine la mezcla durante 10 minutos y verter en los embases (use tarritos de vidrio recyclados de comida de bebe, que una amiga me los dio) y añadir unas gotas de colorante para alimentos segun su gusto de color. Muy fácil:)
Utilizamos parte de la pintura, pero todavía queda algo , he decidido mantenerlos en el refri por si acaso.

C chose the colors for her finger paint. We put over 6 drops of food coloring on each jar, I was wondering if it could stain but so far it hasn't.

C escogio los colores, pusimos alrededor de 6 gotas de colorante de alimentos en cada frasco, me preguntaba si podía manchar pero hasta ahora no lo ha hecho.Ni se nos quedaron los dedos manchados despues de pintar.mmmm

And enjoyed drawing with it.

Y disfruto dibujar con la pintura por un rato.

I usually do one post of our activities from the month, but I need to change that, It takes so much time to post all the pictures in one post (besides I do bilingual post..take me longer to write).
From now on I will do on our shelves post for areas. Each post a day.
This month theme is Construction, most of the activities are not related with theme but some are.

Usualmente hago un post acerca de nuestras actividades de los estantes del mes, pero eh decidido cambiar ese metodo ya que me lleva muchisimo tiempo postearlo, por todas las fotos y los dos idiomas, mas practico seria que haga un post de cada area por dia y eso es lo que hare desde hoy.
El tema del mes es La Construccion, casi todas la actividades tienen relacion con este tema, pero hay unas que no.

This is a Boggle Jr. game, this game is so much fun, it comes with 30 picture-word-cards (60 pictures). These are 3-4 letter words and 8 letter's cubes.
I bought them at the Second hand store for $1.( I know, I am a lucky girl eh)


Este es un juego que se llama  Boggle Jr., este juego es super divertido, trae 30 tarjetas (60 figuras con nombres), estas tarjetas son de 3-4 letras en cada palabra y tambien trae 8 cubos de letras.
Este juego lo compre en la tienda de segundo uso por $1. (que suerte verdad?)

Art on the Go!!

Arte en Movimiento!!

I put this Art Box together for C to use in the car, have you ever thought how much time our kids spent in the car? We usually have coloring books with markets, maybe some flashcards, and lots of books to read. But lately C seems like she is not interested on these anymore. I was thinking what can I do to make her time in the car funner instead of boring. I had a flashlight and think on preparing this Art Box to go.

Prepare  esta  Caja de Arte para  C  para que le de uso en el coche ¿ha pensado alguna vez cuánto tiempo nuestros hijos pasan en el auto? Por lo general,  C tiene libros para colorear , flashcards, y un montón de libros para leer. Pero últimamente C parece no estar interesada en hacer estas actividaes en el coche mas. Estuve  pensando, ¿qué puedo hacer para que su tiempo en el coche sea  más divertido en lugar de aburrido, y se me ocurrio preparar esta caja.

I put some scrapbooking paper to decorate with crayons,markers,stickers,glitter,stamps,glitter pencils,foam stickers, dot a dot art paint, felt stickers, also a pair of scissor to cut and a bar of  glue.

I'm planning to put different stuff every other week, just to keep her interest going. Let see how she does.

Puse un poco de papel scrapbooking para decorar con lápices de colores, marcadores, calcomanías, diamantina, sellos, lápices de purpurina, pegatinas de espuma,  pintura de arte de punto a punto, pegatinas de fieltro , también un par de tijeras para cortar y pegamento.
Estoy pensando en poner cosas diferentes cada dos semanas, para mantener su interés. Vamos a ver cómo lo hace.

Now the one hundred million question , how is she going to work with this in the car if she doesn't have a table? Well I thought about it, I wanted  to buy  this cool travel tray online but my husband is going to make a similar tray for C  , this way we don't have to spent money on it : )

Esta caja es fácil de abrir, sólo tiene que jalar los agarradores y listo!

Ahora la pregunta de los cien millones, ¿cómo va a trabajar con esto en el coche, necesita una mesa o algo verdad? Bueno, tambien pense esn eso, vi en internet esta bandeja para asientos de ninos, pero mi esposo  va a crear  una bandeja similar, de esa manera nos ahorramos en comprarla : )

Si alguien esta interestado en saber donde compre la caja, bueno la compre en Target.

Felt Cookies Counting Game

Jugando a Contar  Galletas de Fieltro

I  was checking online to purchase counting games for C , when I found this activity , I thought I could make my own set, I had all the material at home and it will be nice to save some money.

I made 36 cookies in 4 different kinds, every single cookie is made from felt, I took me about 4 hours to finish them. Nothing better than spend some time at the backyard in a sunny day while C was playing in her swing set.

About the dice,  you remember the rhyming dice we made a while ago using homemade blocks that daddy made for C, well here is another use for them, just tape some red dots on it and you can have a dice : )

Estuve buscando en internet comprar material nuevo para nuestra escuela en casa y me encontre con este sitio, me gusto la actividad de las galletas y dije en vez de comprarla , puedo crear un set parecido,y asi fue, lo mejor de todo ahorre dinero y no gaste ni un dolar mis amigos!

Hice 36 galletas de 4 tipos diferentes, usando unicamente fieltro e hilo de coser, me llevo alrededor de 4 horas terminarlas. Nada mejor que disfrutar de un dia soleado en nuestro jardin trasero dedicandome a este proyecto mientras que C jugaba en su set de columpios.

El dado, recuerdan el dado de rimas que hicimos hace poco tiempo, usando los cubos hechos en casa por papa, bueno este es otro de ellos, simplemente le pegue circulos de cinta roja (o puede ser papel) y ya esta!

                            

How we play:

We take turns rolling the dice, get the number of cookies and put them in your basket, whoever have more cookies in her plate win the game.This game was a big hit!

Como jugamos:

Tomamos turnos tirando el dado , obtienes el numero de galletas y las pones en tu canasta, al fin del juego quien tenga el mayor numero de galletas gana. Este juego fue una novedad en casa!

 

C loved counting her cookies and playing with them. We also try to build a tower using the cookies..so fun.
I have on mind other activities I can prepare using these felt cookies, maybe some sequencing, sorting,adition...etc.

This time, I haven't used a specific pattern for these cookies, I just followed  the same steps that I used to made  the set of felt food  for C last year . I'm pretty sure you guys can find a tutorial online on how to make felt cookies. What can't we find online these days...right?



C se la paso contando sus galletas y jugando con ellas tambien  tratamos de construir una torre con las galletas.Tengo en mente preparar otras actividades usando estas galletas, tal vez secuenciación, clasificación,  adition..etc.

No he utilizado un patrón específico para estas galletas, simplemente segui  los mismos pasos que cuando hice alimentos de fieltro para C hace muchos meses atras.Estoy segura que ustedes pueden encontrar un tutorial en internet sobre cómo hacer  estas galletas. Que no se puede encontrar en Internet en estos días ... ¿verdad?

Practical Life Activities in Home

Actividades Diarias en Casa

I get  e-mail  from followers asking about what kind of chores C does at the house besides our "working activities". Here is a short list: 

Recibo e-mails  de algunos de mis seguidores preguntando, que actividades  hace C en casa aparte de nuestras actividades de trabajo: Aqui hay una lista pequena de estas:

Friday is laundry day! C taker her laundry basket to the laundry room, puts her clothes inside the washer. add some detergent and starts the cycle. When the cycle is over, she puts her clothes in a basket and then puts them inside the drier.
Believe me , THIS is a great help for me!! One thing less to do for me..right? Besides this I think she really enjoys doing her laundry.

El viernes es día de hacer la lavanderia! C lleva su canasta de ropa sucia al cuarto de lavaderia, coloca la ropa en la lavadora, hecha detergente e inicia el ciclo, una vez que el ciclo de la lavadora termina, coloca la ropa en una canasta y luego la pone en la secadora.
Creeme, ES una gran ayuda para mi!! Es una labor menos que yo hago en casa y hace la diferencia.

She also likes helping to prepare dinner, she doesn't do it every night, sometimes she is too busy playing with her dad or just having her tv time (30 minutes a day), but she helps at least twice a week, she helps cutting, peeling and mixing our vegetables.
For cutting she uses this small knife from our set of J.A. Henckels knifes, it's great for her size , we don't keep it very sharp (safety).

A ella tambien le gusta ayudar a mama a preparar la cena, no lo hace cada noche, algunas veces esta cansada y prefiere relajarse y ver tv (30 minutos al dia) o algunas veces prefiere jugar con su papa, por lo menos me ayuda a preparar la cena dos veces a la semana o mas, me ayuda a cortar los vegetales, pelarlos y mezclarlos.
Para cortar ella utiliza el cuchillo mas pequeno que tenemos de nuestro set de cuchillos de cocina de la marca  J.A. Henckels, es adecuado para su edad, ella lo maneja muy bien sin ninguna ayuda, aparte que no afilamos este cuchillo mucho para mantenerlo seguro de accidentes, solo lo afilamos lo necesario.

Sunday is cleaning up day! C cleans the tv console, she uses windex and a rug, she takes the stuff out from the console and after she is done cleaning she puts everything back on.

Los Domingos es dia de limpiar la casa! C limpia la consola del televisor, utiliza windex y un trapo,ella  quita todos los adornos que tenemos en la consola, luego limpia la consola y el televisor y por ultimo pone todo de regreso a su sitio.

One of C's chores is to clean her bedroom, and she needs to do it, it means picking up her books, pick up  her clothes and put them in her closet and also make her bed.

Una de las tareas de C es limpiar su habitación,  ella tiene que hacerlo, que significa recoger sus libros, recoger  su ropa colocarla  en su armario y hacer su cama.

 

To get C to help us it has been a long transition(not overnight), If I clean and daddy clean she will clean too..I think Children learn from imitation, she used to put things on her mouth a lot but now she can be trusted not to put windex or other kind of cleaning supplies in her mouth, also working with a knife is not easy for a 3.5 year old but it is practice, if we never give them the chance to practice how will they learn..right?

You can see we don't ask a lot...do we? We reward her with a big thank you and let her choose a family activity  for us to  the next weekend, like the zoo, library,carnaval,fair,park, swiming pool, or a walk.

Para hacer que  C  nos ayuden ha sido una larga transición (no de un dia pra el otro) .Si mama limpia y  papá tambien limpia, C tambien lo hace..los niños aprenden por imitación, C solia poner cosas en su boca cuando era mas chica , pero ella ya paso esa etapa , es por eso que le confio  windex u otro tipo de producto de limpieza , utilizar un cuchillo   no es fácil para un niño de 3 años  pero es la práctica, si no les damos la oportunidad de practicar cómo van a aprender .. verdad?

Se puede ver que no pido mucho ... ¿verdad? Nosotros la recompensamos  con un gracias muy grande y darle la opcion de elegir  una actividad familiar para nosotros hacer el próximo fin de semana, como ir al zoológico, biblioteca, carnaval, feria, parque, piscina, o una caminata.
