Well, let me give you some updates about C (5 years old) my big girl has enrolled to a Montessori School and she is experiencing how to be part of a Kindergarten classroom with 19 other wonderful children.
As much as I would like to say, everything is doing great, well not quiet, we as a family have to learn to adjust to this "overwhelming routine", wake up much earlier than usual, rush into making  breakfast, pack lunch, be sure she has her backpack ready, drive her to school, observe how the kids line up and follow their teacher to their class.
The first two weeks of school my  husband was gone for work and it wasn't easy. I was feeling busy, unhappy and always in a big rush most of the time!! I don't like rushing my kids, I remember my dad was the most patient men with everybody else but with his own family, he always rushed us, he always wanted things get done fast, I promised myself that I do not want to become like him. I believe that we all are different and we can't rush perfection!
Anyways I think it is a learning curve for all us and I really hope things get smoother and calmer (I know, you may be thinking..is she crazy? things will just get worst)..For a 5 years old going to school from 8:30-3:30pm it's not easy, she gets very tired,unhappy over the smallest thing and  whiny, I am just trying to be the grownup here and understand ! I miss you so very much my little girl..


Bueno, se que algunos de ustedes se deben de preguntar donde anda  C (5 años ) mi niña adorada esta asisitiendo  a una escuela Montessori y ella está experimentando como ser parte de una clase de Kindergarten junto con otros 19 niños maravillosos .
Por mucho que me gustaría decir que todo anda muy bien, bueno realmente no tanto, nosotros como una familia tenemos que aprender a adaptarnos a esta nueva " rutina abrumadora " , despertar mucho antes de lo habitual , apresurarse a preparar el desayuno , preparar la lonchera, tener la mochila lista , manejar a la escuela, observar cómo los niños se alinean y siguen a su maestra a la clase ...
Las dos primeras semanas de escuela mi esposo tuvo que viajar fuera por trabajo y no fue fácil para mí ! Me sentía algo triste, insatisfecha y con  un gran apuro la mayor parte del tiempo ! No me gusta apresurar a  mis hijos  todo el tiempo , recuerdo que mi padre era el hombre más paciente del mundo con todos , pero no con su propia familia, el siempre nos llevaba  siempre al apuro , él siempre quería que las cosas se hagan rápido y sobretodo BIEN, me prometí a mí misma que yo no quiero imitar ese ejemplo en ese aspecto (pues creo que es el unico defecto que mi padre tuvo...ya que el fue y aun es el mejor del mundo!). Creo que todos somos diferentes y no podemos apresurar perfección!
De todas formas creo que es una curva de aprendizaje para todos nosotros y realmente espero que las cosas se pongan  más llevaderas y calmadas ..Para un nino de 5 anios de edad estar en la escuela de 8:30-3:30pm no es fácil , una vez que la recojo de la escuela y la traigo a casa, ella esta muy cansada, enojada y sensible !  Pero trato de entenderla ....Te extraño mucho mi niña ....y no tienen idea como extrano homeschooling con ella en casa!!

Continuing with my last post Montessori Weaning at our Home
I believe that dinner time is a very important activity on our family, it is the only meal where we all can sit together as a family, pray, talk and enjoy each others company. As part of our weaning process we purchased this keekaroo wooden high chair for baby Marce to be part of our dinner time as a family. The Montessori Method recommends that the high chair to be used for a child must be accessible for the child (the child will be able to get into and out of without our help as soon as he is able to walk and climb) We need to think that a child has strong feelings to build  independence.

Creo que la hora de la cena es una actividad muy importante en nuestra familia, es la única comida en la que todos podemos sentarnos juntos en familia, orar, hablar y disfrutar de la compañía mutua. Como parte de nuestro proceso de destete compramos esta silla  Keekaroo  de madera para que Marce sea parte de  la cena en familia. El Método Montessori recomienda que la silla sea accesible para el niño (el niño debera ser capaz de subir y bajar de esta sin nuestra ayuda tan pronto como sea capaz de caminar y trepar). No debemos olvidar que los ninos tienen un instinto natural por construir su independencia y como padres debemos respetar eso.

               

We can see Marce in these pictures drinking water on his glass and eating all by himself using his spoon at the age of 13 months old. We have been practicing this activity since 6 months old.


Podemos apreciar en las fotos a Marce bebiendo agua de su vaso y usando su cuchara para comer sus alimentos de manera independiente a la edad de 13 meses. Hemos venido trabajando en esta actividad desde la edad de 6 meses.

Montessori Weaning at our Home

Introduccion de la Comida en Bebes al Estilo Montessori en Nuestro Hogar

Weaning is an important process on an infant's life, it is an introduction of  foods others than breast-milk or formula.The right time to start this process it is about 4-6 months old.
Since I discovered the wonderful Montessori method only few years ago when my first daughter was two years old,I didn't  have the chance to practice the Montessori weaning process with her (she is 5 years old now). We did the "regular high chair", spoon-feeding and pretty much I did all for her, I did not respect her time to develop her eating habits and empower her early independence as a person. Until these days she needs guidance correcting her manners at the table.
After my second baby was born we decided to raise him following the Montessori Method all the way, we did the Montessori Infant Mobiles, we are doing cloth diapering, breastfeeding and as soon as he turned six months we knew it was time for the weaning process to start.
First I did some research online for weaning tables/chairs and the prices were too high for us, shipping costs to Alaska are just too expensive so I contacted a local carpenter to build us a weaning chair and table for Baby Marce following the measurements from here and here.

El destete es un proceso importante en la vida de un bebé, es una introducción de alimentos a otros que la leche materna o formula.El momento adecuado para iniciar este proceso es de unos 4-6 meses de edad.
Desde que descubrí el método Montessori  hace sólo unos años, cuando mi primera hija tenía dos años, no tuve la oportunidad de practicar el proceso con el metodo Montessori con ella (ella tiene 5 años ahora). Hicimos el "silla de bebe (high chair)l",yo le daba de comer a la boca y casi siempre yo lo hice todo por ella, yo no respete su tiempo para desarrollar sus hábitos de alimentación y la autonomía de sus primeros años de independencia como persona. Hasta estos días mi nina necesita orientación en corregir sus modales en la mesa!
Después del nacimiento de mi segundo hijo, decidimos criarlo siguiendo el Método Montessori hasta donde nuestros medios nos lo permitan, hicimos los móviles para niños Montessori, estamos haciendo pañales de tela, la lactancia materna y en cuanto nuestro bebe cumplio seis meses de edad   sabíamos que era hora de que el proceso de introduccion de los alimentos al estilo Montessori comenzara.
Primero hice un poco de investigación en internet para comprar las mesas / sillas para comenzar este proceso y los precios eran demasiado altos para nosotros, los gastos de envío para  Alaska estan por las nubes, así que entré en contacto con un carpintero local para que haga una silla y una mesa para el bebe Marce, segui las  medidas de aqui y aqui .

I was so surprised how well and smooth this transition went, Marce sits on his weaning table to eat his snacks in such a natural way that it encourages me to keep following this path.
We also ordered a set of glasses from For Small Hands, I totally recommend them,these are very durable and I  like the fact that they are just the right size for my little guy's hands.

Yo me sorprendi mucho de lo maravillosa que fue esta transición, Marce se sienta en su mesa de destete para comer sus bocadillos de una manera tan natural que me anima a seguir este camino.
También odenamos un set de vasos de   vidrio  de la pagina For Small Hands ", este set de vasos los recomiendo totalmente, son muy durables y me gusta el hecho de que son de un tamaño adecuado para las manos de mi nino.

My kitchen is small and I don't have too much room but I though I could use one of these drawers for utensils for Marce and another drawer for big sister's utensils.This help with our organization and independence.

Here you can see the napkins, bibs, glass,cups plates, utensils and glasses for baby Marce.

Mi cocina es algo pequena pero me pude organizar bien y uso uno de estos cajones para mantener los utensilios de Marce a la mano y otro cajon lo uso para los utensilios de Cata.

Aqui pueden ver las servilletas, los baberos, los platos de vidrio y aluminio, los utensilios y los vasos de Marce.

I always keep his small jar fill with water next to his glass on top of his table, whenever I offer him a drink he looks right away for the jar and carefully watches me how do I serve his water.You want to fill a little bit of water, maybe few drops at the time, once he is done, repeat the same process, I learned form our experience that we need to be consistent on our routine and also be patient and kind allowing a baby to enjoy this experience.

Otro punto importante en nuestra transicion es tener una pequena jarra llena con agua y su vaso en su mesa, cuando yo le ofrezco el agua, Marce desvia su mirada y pone toda su atencion en como agarro la jarra, como sirvo el agua, simplemente sirve un poco de agua en el vaso ,no mucha, si es posible pocas gotas, una vez que el bebio toda el agua de su vaso, llenalo otra vez y repite el mismo proceso, es una actividad que el pronto empezara a hacerla por si solo y simplemente yo le estoy dando la oportunidad de observar respetando su tiempo y progreso.

Aprendi de mi experiencia,  tiene uno que ser muy consistente en la rutina, tambien paciente pero sobretodo amable, tenemos que permitir que el bebe disfrute de esta experiencia y en un futuro aprenda a hacerlo por si mismo.

Fun Ice Dyeing TUTORIAL

This is a nice colorful activity easy to do with the kiddos at home. You will need :

-ice trays

-fabric dye (as many colors you want)

-white clothes to dye on

-and creative kids 

Esta es una buena actividad  fácil de hacer con los peques en casa. Usted necesitará:

-bandejas de hielo

-tinte de tela (como muchos colores que desee)

-ropa blanca para teñir 

y niños creativos

I bought this tie dye kit couple of years ago at Walmart for $14. We have used it for different projects and it lasted for quiet of bit.But you can use any dye you have at home. You also can go here to buy different dyes for fabric.

Compré este set de tinte hace un par de años atrás en Walmart por $14. Lo hemos utilizado para diferentes proyectos y ah durado buen tiempo .Pero puede usar cualquier colorante que tenga en casa. También puedes visitar este sitio para comprar diferentes tintes para telas.

First you fill your ice trays with water and pour a teaspoon of your dye, mix it and freeze it.

En primer lugar llena tus bandejas de hielo con agua y vierta una cucharadita de el tinte, se mezcla y congelelo.

Get ready your whites to start the project

Prepare la ropa blanca  para iniciar el proyecto

Once the ice is ready give it to your child and let her/him have some fun with the colorful ice cubes

Una vez que el hielo este listo deje que su nene se divierta creando con los hielos de colores

I suggest to let the ice cubes sit for a couple of minutes on the fabric before putting them back in the tray

Sugiero que los cubitos de hielo reposen durante un par de minutos en la tela antes de volver a colocarlos en la bandeja

Ice cubes here and ice cubes there and the t shirts will turn so colorful and fun...Let them dry completely then washed them with warm water ,they will be ready to wear them 

Algunos cubos de hielo aquí y otros cubos de hielo allí y las camisetas se volverá tan coloridas ... Deje que se sequen completamente, luego lavar con agua tibia y estarán listas para usarlas.

Baby Mobile # 6 "Colors"

Since baby Marce (12 months old) is starting to say few words and doing some sign language I thought this mobile can help him to discriminate different colors and add few more words to his vocabulary. This is a quick tutorial  for you.

Bebé Marce (12 meses ) está empezando a decir algunas palabras y hace algunas senas .Pensé que este móvil puede ayudarle a discriminar diferentes colores y añadir algunas palabras a su vocabulario. Este es un tutorial rápido y simple.

Usaremos lana para enrollar un aro de bordado

                     Next we will need felted beads,hearts and birds and also a needle and thread.

Para el siguiente paso necesitaremos cuentas de fibra de fieltro, corazones y tambien pajaritos, una aguja e hilo de coser.

Use the thread (I used about 20 (50 cm) inches long) and start threading by the middle of the beads,hearts and birds leaving space in between one at the time.  

Use el hilo y la aguja para poder pasar las cuentas, corazones y los pajaritos dejando cierto espacio entre estas, use 4 diferentes tiras, cada una de  20 (50 cm) pulgadas de hilo.

             I love the different colors and shapes on it...it is just such a perfect summer happy mobile.

               Me encantan los colores de este movil, es el movil perfecto para un verano

Kids really like it.Cata (5 years old ) thinks that it is the cutest mobile ever and baby Marce just looks at it with such a big smile.

A mis hijos les encanto, Cata (5 anios) me dice "mami este es el movil mas bonito de todos" y bebe Marce simplemente se queda admirando el movil con una sonrisa muy tierna, pero si es para comerselo a besos!

Crawling Knee Pads for Baby TUTORIAL

Baby M started to crawl  couple of months ago and I was concern that the tile and the wood floor at our house would be rough on his baby knees. It is summer here and too hot to wear pants so he needed some cushion to crawl on. I looked  online to purchase some but they are quiet expensive so I went ahead and made some pads myself. How much did I spent? well nothing ..I had all the materials I needed. 

For not means these are not perfect or the most cute thing ever but they sure do the job!

We need: long socks, small pieces of fabric, scissors,cotton stuffing ,thread and needle.

Bebé M empezó a gatear  hace un par de meses y pense que el piso de madera y la mayolica  de la cocina de  nuestra casa sería un poco dura para las rodillas del bebé. Es verano aquí y hace calor durante el dia  para usar pantalones por lo que necesitaba un poco de soporte para que pueda gatear sin preocupaciones. Busque en el internet para poder comprarlos , pero  me parecieron algo caros y faciles de hacerlos, así que me adelanté e invente unas rodilleras de bebe. Y lo mejor de todo que no gaste di un peso, ya que todos los materiales los tenia en casa.

Pero esto no significa que estas rodilleras son perfectas o que sean las mas lindas eh, pero sí que son muy utiles !

Necesitamos: calcetines largos, pequeños trozos de tela, tijeras, relleno de algodón, hilo y aguja.

First step, use scissors and cut the socks just above the ankle    

Primer paso, utilice unas tijeras y corte los calcetines justo por encima de la parte del tobillo



We need 4 ovals of fabric, about 4.5 inches long (I'm guessing)

Necesitamos 4 óvalos de tela, alrededor de 4,5 pulgadas de largo (supongo la medida)



Stitch two ovals together facing out, I used zig zag stitch. You need to leave about 2 inches open (non stitch) for our next step.

Cose dos óvalos juntos mirando hacia fuera, dale puntada zig zag. Tienes que dejar una orificio de 2 pulgadas  para nuestro próximo paso.



 Fill with cotton stuffing the oval (this will be the cushion  for the baby's knee).Once you fill it start stitching again and close the oval.

Rellena el óvalo con relleno de algodón  (este será el soporte  para la rodilla del bebe).Una vez que los hayas rellenado ,empieza a coser cerrando el orificio
   

Repeat the same process with the other two ovals

Repite el mismo proceso con los otros dos ovalos sobrantes

Use the thread and the needle and stitch the oval pad to the sock.

Ahora usa el hilo y la aguja y ponte a coser cada ovalo en cada media 

You are done!!

Terminaste!

     

                       

Put them on baby and let those little knees crawl as fast as they want  : )

Coloca las rodilleras en el engreido de la casa y deja que sus rodillitas gateen tan rapido como puedan : )

Tips:

-Try not to put too much stuffing inside the pad..it could be to hard for baby to crawl on them.

- To choose the right sock, be sure the elastic of the welt is not too tight for the baby's leg.

-It is not necessary to use the sewing machine, just stitch by hand.

-If you don't have cotton stuffing you also can use cotton balls, sponge or bubble wrap plastic.

Consejos:

-Trata de no poner demasiado relleno dentro de la almohadilla de la rodillera .. podría ser difícil para el bebé gatear en ellos.

- Para elegir el calcetín adecuado, asegúrese de que el elástico del ribete no sea demasiado apretado para el bebé

-No es necesario el uso de la máquina de coser, tambien puedes usar puntada a mano.

-Si usted no tiene relleno de algodón también puede utilizar bolitas de algodón, esponja o plástico de burbujas.

Bienvenidas Hadas..

We are finally done putting together our fairy garden. We patiently waited for our chia seeds to grow, it turned out just magical. Here is a tour for you, please join us.

Finalmente terminamos de armar nuestro jardin de hadas de este verano, esperamos pacientemente que crezcan nuestras semillas de chia, y valio la espera, simplemente quedo maravilloso. Aqui les hago un tour, porfavor siganme:

My favorite fairy of all times "C" admiring and searching for fairy footprints.I loved when she said "Mom thank you so much for helping me and doing this with me"..I was speechless..I love you girl!

My hada favorita de todos los tiempos " C" admirando y buscando por huellas de haditas en nuestro jardin, me movio el corazon cuando me dijo "Mama gracias por ayudarme a armar este jardin , muchas gracias y me dio un super abrazo" Me dejo sin palabras..es que es la nina de mis ojos!

Every fairy needs a magic wand..right? I am pretty sure they will love this set of tiny wands we made for them. I think the bunny already likes them.

Toda hada necesita una barita magica...verdad? Bueno es que estamos seguras que les encantara estas baritas pequenitas. Bueno al menos creo que al conejito si le gustan.

This is a beautiful fairy shell, C got it from daddy as a special treasure from the ocean, and she decided that the fairies will love to use it as their shop or maybe just to play hide and seek : )

Esta es una hermosa conchita de hadas, C la recibió de papá como un especial tesoro del océano, y sugirio que las hadas les pueda encantar usarla como su tienda o tal vez sólo para jugar a las escondidas : )

One of our neighbors was going to throw this beautiful  flower pot at the garbage, we asked if we could keep it and they said ..yes!

Uno de nuestros vecinos iba a tirar esta hermosa maceta en la basura, les preguntamos si podíamos quedarnos con ela y nos dijeron que sí ..!

We also put some lanterns at our garden to help the fairies bring some light to the dark nights in Alaska!

Tambien agregamos linternas para ayudar a las hadas a ilumar sus noches en Alaska!
