Math 5's Hopscotch

Summer is already here in Alaska...can you believe that? We have an amazing weather so far.We love it!

C (6 years old) is working on counting on 5's all the way to 500 and 1,000 at her school.She is on Kindergarten, well almost first grade..time flies!
I discovered this school year that my daughter prefers Language over Math, It becomes challenging for me and her teacher to "push" her to do more Math.
One of our last activities we did to work skip counting on 5's was this fun game in our driveway, while she was on school I wrote numbers all the way to 500.As soon as she saw it,she jumped up to play,jump, count and keep doing that every time we will go to the driveway.So far she is doing really good on her skip counting now.

Bueno llego el verano a Alaska..y tratamos de aprovechar cada minuto del dia jugando y pasandola bien al aire libre.Despues de 7 meses de invierno, ya se imaginaran como extranabamos el sol.

Bueno C esta en el Kindergarten y estan trabajando en el conteo de numeros de 5, hasta 500 y 1,000. Asi que se me ocurrio que podiamos hacer este juego de numeros,escribi con tiza en la frentera de  la casa los numeros en 5 hasta el 500.Cuando C llego del cole y vio, no paro de saltar, contar, jugar y bueno ahora ni hablar que ya se lo aprendio muy bien. A ver si alguna de ustedes tambien les funciona con los nenes de la casa.

Christmas Gingerbread Man Counting Activity

Actividad de Matematicas con el Hombre de Jengibre

 

 

This is a very fun activity from our shelves, very easy to put together, you need some brown felt, to make the gingerbread man, buttons, paper or a small tiny notebook,pencil and a dice.

 

 

Esta actividad es super motivadora para trabajar numeros con nuestros ninos, simplemente necesitamos, fieltro de color cafe para hacer los munecos de jengibre, un dado, un cuadernillo pequeno de apuntes, un lapiz y botones.

 

Very simple, first we roll the dice, count the number then put the quantity of buttons on the gingerbread man and finally write the number on our small notebook.


Que tenemos que hacer? Primero hacemos rodar el dado, contamos los botones de el numero que nos muestra el dado y ponemos los botones en el muneco de jengibre y por ultimo escribimos el numero en nuestro pequeno libro de apuntes.

Felt Cookies Counting Game

Jugando a Contar  Galletas de Fieltro

I  was checking online to purchase counting games for C , when I found this activity , I thought I could make my own set, I had all the material at home and it will be nice to save some money.

I made 36 cookies in 4 different kinds, every single cookie is made from felt, I took me about 4 hours to finish them. Nothing better than spend some time at the backyard in a sunny day while C was playing in her swing set.

About the dice,  you remember the rhyming dice we made a while ago using homemade blocks that daddy made for C, well here is another use for them, just tape some red dots on it and you can have a dice : )

Estuve buscando en internet comprar material nuevo para nuestra escuela en casa y me encontre con este sitio, me gusto la actividad de las galletas y dije en vez de comprarla , puedo crear un set parecido,y asi fue, lo mejor de todo ahorre dinero y no gaste ni un dolar mis amigos!

Hice 36 galletas de 4 tipos diferentes, usando unicamente fieltro e hilo de coser, me llevo alrededor de 4 horas terminarlas. Nada mejor que disfrutar de un dia soleado en nuestro jardin trasero dedicandome a este proyecto mientras que C jugaba en su set de columpios.

El dado, recuerdan el dado de rimas que hicimos hace poco tiempo, usando los cubos hechos en casa por papa, bueno este es otro de ellos, simplemente le pegue circulos de cinta roja (o puede ser papel) y ya esta!

                            

How we play:

We take turns rolling the dice, get the number of cookies and put them in your basket, whoever have more cookies in her plate win the game.This game was a big hit!

Como jugamos:

Tomamos turnos tirando el dado , obtienes el numero de galletas y las pones en tu canasta, al fin del juego quien tenga el mayor numero de galletas gana. Este juego fue una novedad en casa!

 

C loved counting her cookies and playing with them. We also try to build a tower using the cookies..so fun.
I have on mind other activities I can prepare using these felt cookies, maybe some sequencing, sorting,adition...etc.

This time, I haven't used a specific pattern for these cookies, I just followed  the same steps that I used to made  the set of felt food  for C last year . I'm pretty sure you guys can find a tutorial online on how to make felt cookies. What can't we find online these days...right?



C se la paso contando sus galletas y jugando con ellas tambien  tratamos de construir una torre con las galletas.Tengo en mente preparar otras actividades usando estas galletas, tal vez secuenciación, clasificación,  adition..etc.

No he utilizado un patrón específico para estas galletas, simplemente segui  los mismos pasos que cuando hice alimentos de fieltro para C hace muchos meses atras.Estoy segura que ustedes pueden encontrar un tutorial en internet sobre cómo hacer  estas galletas. Que no se puede encontrar en Internet en estos días ... ¿verdad?

We are focusing in art and creativity, C loves loves painting, we were stamping using  bubble wrap bags. 

C also really likes popping the bubbles.

Nos hemos concentrado en actividades de Arte, esta vez usamos plastico de burbujas de empaque, la ponemos en pintura y luego estampamos con el plastico.Tambien C se la pasa reventando las burbujitas de los platicos por  horas...

Math Activities, So Far this one is her favorite, she counts the beads and hangs them in the correct order.

Actividades de Matematica, esta es una de sus favoritas, cuentas las perlas y las cuelga en el numero correcto.
