Sets of shapes

Little "C" was very interested in shapes since she was 1.5 year, she used to ask, mommy what is this?and this other?
I made so far 2 groups of shapes.After she accomplished the first set, I presented to her the second set (we are still working on it).
All the objects I used for this set of shapes are collected from the house or made for me, like the pentagon, cone and pyramid (origami).

Mi pequena "C" estaba muy interesada en las formas geometricas desde que tenía 18 meses, solía preguntar, mamá ¿qué es esto?, Y este otro? (refiriendose a las formas).
Hice hasta ahora dos grupos de formas geometricas.Despues de que ella logró el primer set, le presente el segundo set (todavía estamos trabajando en ello).
Todos los objetos que utilizamos para este conjunto de formas los obtenemos de la casa y otros los hice yo, como el pentágono, el cono y la pirámide (origami).

Intento buscar por objetos de diferentes texturas y colores, para relizar la actividad de manera mas divertida.

Learning colors

Here are some of the activities I do with "C" about colors.
Estas son algunas de las actividades que hago con "C" para aprender los colores.

Here we have to sets of the same colors,she needs to find the match of each color.I made them from felt.

Aqui tenemos 2 conjuntos de los mismos colores , "C" necesita encontrar la pareja de cada color.Estos colores son hechos de felpa pegados en caton cartulina.


Here we put the name of the colors in the table and then she needs to put the felt color by the name.

En esta otra actividad ponemos los nombres de los colores en la mesa y el siguiente paso es que mi nena coloque los colores (rectangulos de felpa) en el nombre.

She is been doing this activities since months ago, In the second activity I used to read the word to her first and then she would find the color but now she doesn't need me to read them anymore.She can do this activities pretty much all by herself whenever she feels interested.

La pequena "C" ha venido haciendo estas actividades hace meses, en la segunda actividad yo solía leer las palabras primero y luego ella encontraba el color, pero ella ahora ya no necesita que le lea las palabras.Ella puede hacer esta actividad sola sin ayuda.

Rain rain..

Rain rain..little 'c' wants to explore! It is been rainning a lot lately but we still have fun out there, she loves getting herself wet.

Que llueva que llueva la pequena "C" desea explorar! Ultimamente esta lloviendo mucho pero igual tratamos de pasarla bien afuera, Little "C" se divierte mucho en la lluvia le encanta el agua y sobretodo mojarse!


Looking for worms...she was talking about worms all afternoon, when daddy got home the first thing she said was " daddy I found some worms". She just likes to express their thoughts...which I am happy to give her the chances to discover new stuff.

Aqui estamos buscando gusanos ... ella estuvo hablando acerca de los gusanos durante toda la tarde, cuando su papá llegó a casa lo primero que le dijo fue "papá encontré algunos gusanos".A ella simplemente le gusta expresar sus pensamientos ... Me complace darle la oportunidad de descubrir cosas nuevas.

Yarn Lantern

I got this cool idea from this blog.
Little "C" had a super messy fun day gluing the yarn in the balloon. You will need yarn,balloon,glue and lots of water to wash hands!!.

Obtuve la idea de este blog.
La pequena "c" tuvo un dia lleno de diversion pegando la lana en el globo. Para este proyecto necesitaras lana,globos,pegamento y mucha agua para lavarse las manos.





Here my sunshine is gluing the yarn in the balloon.

Aqui mi nena esta pegando la lana en el globo.


We finished gluing the yarn around the middle of the balloon.

Terminamos de pegar la lana en la mitad del globo.

We let it dry for 48 hours.

Dejamos secar la lana pegada en el globo por 48 horas.



Little "C" popped the balloon (she really enjoyed this part,she kept asking for more balloons to pop).

La pequena "C" revento el globo (le gusto reventar el globo..me pidio mas globos para reventar).


Here is the final product. We put inside a small tea light candle.

Aqui esta el producto final.Pusimos un vela con base de metal adentro de la linterna de lana.

Sorting Activities

Grouping is the first step in learning and understanding that numbers represent objects.Children are naturally curious. They are exploring what they are see-ing and touching.I use household materials to give my daughter the chance to have fun with them. She doesn't know she is "learning" she knows she is having fun...that is what matters!


Agrupación es el primer paso en el aprendizaje y la comprensión que los números representan objects.Los ninos son curiosos por naturaleza.Ellos exploran todo lo que tocan y ven.Uso materiales de uso domestico para guiar a mi hija en un mejor aprendisaje...lo mejor de todo es que ella no sabe que esta "aprendiendo"...ella solo se esta divirtiendo...y ESO es lo que importa!




This summer we have been playing with water balloon very often, after we clean up we save the popped balloons for some activities..one of them is this one. We really like the colors of these balloons are so bright and colorful!!

Este verano hemos estado jugando con globos de agua muy a menudo, después que terminamos de jugar es la hora de recoger, guardamos los globos reventados para otras actividades, como por ejemplo para la clasificacion de colores.Nos gustan los colores de estos globos son muy brillantes y coloridos.





Here we have 3 different kinds of pasta..I also add some corn and bean grains to this activity (because I didn't have any other type of pasta to complete the group of 5).She learned the different textures, names ,colors,sizes,explore space,
recognize shapes,recognize patterns and quantity. Yes all that in this simple activity.


Aquí tenemos tres tipos diferentes de pasta .. Agregue algunos granos de maíz y frijol a esta actividad (porque no tenia otro tipo de pasta para completar el grupo de 5) Ella aprendió las diferentes texturas, los nombres, los colores , tamaños, explorar el espacio,reconocer las formas,reconocer patrones y cantidad.
Si todo esto en esta simple actividad!

Rain and Umbrella

Yesterday we had a rainy day.Little "C" wanted to take her umbrella(I mean my umbrella...but she says it is her umbrella)and explore how it works in the rain...she discovered that the umbrella opens and closes and also works just fine as a toy!!".

Ayer tuvimos un dia con mucha lluvia, entonces mi pequena "C" quiso sacar 'su paraguas' (bueno la verdad es que es mi paraguas, pero ella dice que es "su paraguas") a la lluvia para descubrir que pasa ...Descubrio que el paraguas, cierra, abre y tambien funciona como un juguete genial! ".

Rhubarb -Strawberry Pie

I got the recipe for this yummy pie from a cooking book of a friend of mine. It was really simple, you also can find easy recipes for this pie online.
Here,my little sunshine is making the crust.

Para la preparacion de este postre ( PYE DE RUIBARBO Y FRESAS)segui la receta de un recetario de una amiga, pero hay muchas ideas que pueden sacar en internet.
Aqui mi nena esta preparando la masa.

Sorting objects

I have this fascination for saving stuff we don't use anymore(different things,bottle caps,boxes,markers caps,spoons,paper towel rolls..etc)I put different little things in a bag and let my little sunshine have fun sorting!! She learns different shapes,different colors,sizes,quantity and increases vocabulary. It is such a simple activity that keeps her entertain. Once she is done,she puts everything away without me telling her. It is just so natural for her.

Tengo esta mania de colectar diferentes cosas(tapas de marcadores,cajas de carton,cucharas de diferentes tamanos,tapas de botellas,tubos de papel toalla..etc) Coloco diferentes cosas en una bolsa y dejo que mi nena encuentre la bolsa y descubra que hay en ella como los diferentes colores,formas, figuras geometricas,cantidad,tamano y tambien incrementa su vocabulario.Es una actividad simple pero la mantiene entretenida por un buen rato.Una vez que termina, coloca todo en su lugar sin que yo le pida que lo haga, es algo muy natural en ella.

Fine motor skills set

These are some of the activities sets that my daughter enjoys doing while I am busy cooking or preparing something in the kitchen. These sets keep her little fingers busy. Works her eye-hand coordination as well.
Estas son algunas de las actividades que preparo para mantener a mi hija ocupada mientras yo estoy cocinando o preparando algo en la cocina.Estas actividades ayudan a sus deditos a mantenerlos acupados.Tambien trabaja su coordinacion visual y manual.



Inserting toothpicks into an empty container I recycled from my kitchen.
Colocar estos palillos de dientes dentro de este embase de plastico que recicle de mi cocina.



Inserting these chips into an empty container that has a little cut I made with a knife.
Insertar estos discos de colores dentro de este embase, en la tapa de este embase hice un corte usando un cuchillo para que los discos puedan entrar al embase.



Inserting these fun marble stones I bought at the craft store into the plastic container.
Poner estas piedras de color blanco dentro de este embase de plastico.

We went for a wonderful walk ...We had a blast enjoying the wonderful colors of nature.It was one of those special days!!I loved it.

Fuimos a dar una caminata..Tuvimos un dia lleno de emocion disfrutando los grandiosos colores de nuestra madre tierra!FUE uno de esos dias especiales!!Me encanto.

Little "C" loved playing in the river even if the water was cold..she enjoyed it!It is just incredible how children have fun with simple stuff...Let's be all kids again!!

Mi pequena "C" se la paso muy bien jugando con el agua del rio que estaba FRIA...Es increible como los ninos se divierten con cosas simples...Seamos ninos todos otra vez!!

Wooden bracelet

We went for a walk at the beach an picked up some wood sticks.We decided to create a nice bracelet for little "C".

En una de nuestras caminatas rutinarias a la playa obtuvimos palitos de madera. Decidimos crear una pulsera para nuestra pequena "C".

Here is daddy cutting the wood in small beads.

Aqui esta papa cortando los palitos de madera en pequenas cuentas.


Little "C" is watching daddy sand the beads.Once the beads were sanded, daddy used a wood burner to draw the letters of Little "C"s nick name and then painted them lime green.

Pequena "C" esta observando a papa lijar las pequenas cuentas de madera.Una vez lijadas las cuentas papa utilizo un quemador de madera para trazar las letras de el sobrenombre de nuestra pequena "C", Y LUEGO las pinto de color verde limon.


I helped little "C" put her nick name together into rainbow yarn using a yarn needle.
Ayude a mi nena uniendo las cuentas de madera con lana de colores y aguja.


Here is our final product...made with lots of love!!

Aqui esta nuestro producto final especialmente para ella...hecho con mucho mucho mucho AMOR!



She loved it...She was very excited wearing her bracelet with her nick name.

A mi hija le encanto...Estuvo muy contenta usando su pulsera con su sobrenombre.

Let's bring science..

We did "float or sink" using stones and leaves we found in our backyard.Little "C" has fun playing with water, after that we had some fun in the sprinkler!!

Hicimos como proyecto de ciencia " flota o no flota" usamos piedras pequenas y hojas que recojimos de nuestro jardin. Mi pequena "C" se divierte mucho jugando con agua, cuando terminamos esta actividad nos la pasamos muy bien mojandonos con el salpicador de agua o manguera.

Little "C" also helped me mash potatoes for dinner...she was very proud of herself..isn't she precious?

La pequena "C" tambien me ayudo a preparar la cena...ella apreto las papas para el pure. no es preciosa?
